Our last day in Buenos Aires was the day before a country wide general strike so the city was busy with people completing business they wouldn't be able to complete the next day.  Traffic was horrendous but we managed to travel to the outskirts of Buenos Aires to the lovely district of El Tigre where the Parana River empties into the Rio de la Plata on its way to the Atlantic.  Traditional houses along the delta are built on stilts  on islands and are surrounded by lush subtropical vegetation.  The islands are separated by a twisting maze of waterways which we traveled on with a scenic boat ride.

Later in the evening we departed for the U.S. after a nightmarish experience at the airport.  LanArgentina, our carrier, was backlogged and we were forced to stay in a line, which we weren't even sure if it was the correct one, for 3 1/2 hours just to check in.  Our names were not on the airline website and we had a bit of a problem getting our boarding passes.   Never again will we fly Lan.

Anyway, the overall trip was an experience we will never forget and it was fun having our last day lunch at our favorite restaurant in Buenos Aires, Broccolino's.
