Day 7 had us starting back up Mt. Battie in Camden to see what the view would look like without the rain/drizzle/fog and boy, are we glad we decided to go back. The view was spectacular! To be honest, we spent Friday backtracking to see what we missed and ending up spending a couple hours at Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. We walked to the end of the breakwater and just sat on the rocks and talked about the trip up to that point. It knew it was winding down and within 36 hours we'd be back in South Dakota. At the last moment, we stopped at the Maine State Ferry and got on the ferry to Vinalhaven. We didn't have time to explore Vinalhaven, but the ferry ride was definitely worth it. It was a wonderful conclusion to our vacation in Maine. That night we drove back to Portland, got a room close to the airport (Comfort Inn) and flew out the next morning at 7:20.
