The incredibally wide main street in the middle of the city is pedestrian-only on the week-ends.  It's a nice touch.  A few people selling souvenirs, a bloke trying to sell pedicab rides, but other than that not much commercialism.  Just people wandering around enjoying the walk.

People rave about Kiev but I find the centre pretty unfriendly on the whole.  Big buildings, lots of people.

The pinnacle of success seems to be being allowed to park a huge car on the footpath.  What does that teach people?  Take note of the sign...  in Ukrainian it says - no joke - No Parking - Except on the Footpath.

Finally I found a great restaurant not too far from the centre.  Very friendly, cheap, great food, great place to just sit for a while.  Had to go through the kitchen to get to the toilet but then again there are places in Sandy Bay where you have to do that.  One moment a wedding party would walk past, next a group of sailors...

next a group of sight-seers on segways...

As usual there are heaps of weddings on the week-ends; so many that they're queued up outside fountains in parks to get their wedding photos.

I finished the day at the soccer at the Dinamo Kiev stadium.  As usual at these events anywhere in the world the police were out in mass.

Most of the loudest fans were all lumped together... clearly they're not going for the game but for some tribal reason.

The soccer was the same as soccer anywhere else.  Pretty boring.  That's why the fans have to run riot.  Otherwise people would realise how stupid it all is.

I got someone to take a snap of me at the game.  Bit corny... but here it is.
