Good evening from the North Sea. As I type this we are approaching the English Channel. We are currently located at 52 degrees 18.91 N X 3 degrees 9.59 E. Our heading is 227 degrees (WSW). Our speed is 19 knots. The wind direction is 168 degrees (SSW) at 17.6 knots (9.1 m/s). We are due west of Amsterdam, Holland, which I will use in the blog as the location.
Today was uneventful and relaxing. We didn't do very much. I sorted through my photos while Annie read a book. We enjoyed a great lunch. Even better was dinner, which included a crew show. The food has been excellent the entire trip.
This evening we went to the farewell show. Two terrific entertainers performed. Paul Emmanuel, an English singer, was wonderful singing songs from 50 years ago. The range of his voice was remarkable. He was followed by Count Dimas, the fantastic Romanian pianist/humorist we saw the other night. This guy is exceptional, leaving us in stitches while performing incredibly complex works on the piano and accordion. Catch him if you can!
Today we have sailed past many ships and oil platforms. These are busy waters. The North Sea has been incredibly calm. These waters are infamous for bad seas. The day was cloudy with areas of fog and a few showers.
Tomorrow morning we dock in Dover. We will take a cab to the bed and breakfast where we have a reservation. After dropping off our luggage, we will head up the hill to explore the historic Dover Castle.
This has been our best cruise ever. The ship has been flawless except for the poor Internet service. Excellent service, excellent food and excellent entertainment have made it very special. Add to that the outstanding itinerary and we have had it made.
