Our next adventure begins this Wednesday. Annie and I are off to Europe to enjoy a Baltic cruise on Holland America's Eurodam. I thought it might be fun to try to write a travel blog about the trip. I found this site today. Hopefully it fits the bill.
We will be flying from New York JFK to London Heathrow. We leave Wednesday evening on Delta 0001, departing at 8:35 PM. We arrive in London at 9:25 AM. We will be staying in London at the Marriott Park Lane for 2 nights.
The Iceland volcano, for the moment, is only venting steam. Hopefully that does not change. There are no flight disruptions as I type this.
We don't have any specific plans while we are in London. We'll figure out what we will do after we get there. I'm sure we'll be pretty beat on Thursday.
Saturday we will be traveling from London to the cruise port in Dover, England. We'll board in the afternoon. The Eurodam is only 1 1/2 years old. It will be our first trip on a new ship.
Our schedule is as follows:
Sunday May 30: Sea Day
Monday May 31: Copenhagen, Denmark
Tuesday June 01: Sea Day
Wednesday June 02: Tallinn, Estonia
Thursday June 03: St. Petersburg, Russia (overnight)
Friday June 04: St. Petersburg, Russia
Saturday June 05: Helsinki, Finland
Sunday June 06: Stockholm, Sweden
Monday June 07: Sea Day
Tuesday June 08: Sea Day
Wednesday June 09: Disembark, Dover, England (overnight)
Thursday June 10: Fly home from London
Obviously St. Petersburg will be the highlight of this adventure. We are joining some new friends from England for a special 2 day tour of the city. This will include a "white nights" evening tour. The sun does not set until 11:00 PM while we are in St. Petersburg, my kind of sunset!
That's all for now. I'll try to make regular postings along the way. Other than London, we have never been to any of the cities on this trip.
