Where I stayed
A bright sunny day so we were up early....well earlyish, 8am. It was v much like a Melbourne winter day, warm in the sun but pretty cold in the shade. But the blue sky was lovely
We headed over to Granville Island, getting there about 930am before some places even opened but the fruit/vege/food markets were open and so therefore were the coffee shops. Found a place there that sold v good coffee and had a special today, large cup late for price of small. I am still coming to terms with the "small" cup being what I would normally call a bucket. I took the large coffee and made it half way thru before tossing it out
Granville Island is a really nice art and craft place. We saw lots of nice natural timber pieces of furniture that would have been tempting if we lived a little closer. Also some lovely leatherwork, bags etc. the most amazing thing we saw was a musical chair thing. It was like a wrap around chair with a harp built into the back. Called a sound cradle. You sat back and the music vibrations massaged you and the sound was incredible...Truly unique. Their website is www.gandharvaloka.com I have not looked there yet but I assume it will have more info there. Cost was C$5400
We then caught a water taxi and then rode the rails and got on a local suburban train. The locals could not have been more friendly, first the "transit guard" explained the ticketing and assured us it was v safe. Then we were unsure about right platform, a local young lady stopped her mobile phone conversation to help unprompted. What were the burbs like in Vancouver? Well I had a small nap but what I saw surprised a bit, they had quite a few high rise apartment blocks in the suburbs.
Back to city and shops and walk home...just in time to beat the rain
Now having a Californian Cab Sav from Liberty School. V nice. Sandy is having Canadian Peller estate Cab Merlot from same maker as her new favorite peach cider

If you think that coffee is big, never get a "venti" sized cup at Starbucks!
