Where I stayed
What I did
We've had 2 days here and its easy to see why Vancouver always is amongst the most liveable cities in the world...although below Melbourne in the last survey.
I almost laughed when the tour guide said today that the reason for so many homeless here is that the weather is so mild. Even one keeps saying how warm it is - max of 5 degrees C.
Today we had fairly constant rain and so our bus tour was the right answer. It was great, saw many sights like the Bloedell Conservatory (nice plants and feathered birds), Vancouver Lookout, Gastown with as steam driven clock (has an electric starter) and we were driven from place to place is a warm comfy bus with a very knowledgable driver - Brent from LandSea Tours. Look them up if you come this way
Yesterday we took advantage of the "warm" weather, hired some bikes and rode around the sea wall, I think we did about 10km and rode for around 90 minutes. You can see from one of the the photos that Sandy also invested in $5 ear muffs... I resisted briefly and then got some too. They were livesavers
We've tried a few restaurants - all great. Tonight we had moules and frite - something I associate with Belgium / Holland but what the hell
We had a brief look at Granville Island today - looks great but left til tomorrow and the finer weather. Heat wave expected and 8 degrees plus light rain
I will also try and get a good photo of the sea planes that take off just outside our window. Looks like a scene from Harrison Ford movie, you can see the sea planes landing just above the trees and expensive yachts.
