Okay well it's really early here so I hope this makes sense. I'll be brief, breakfast is waiting. Well, yesterday I went to Terezin with Kimberly. The whole town was a little strange even still, I think. The weather was gloomy but I suppose it matched the atmosphere. We went to a museum first, it was very impressive I thought. All the captions and information was written in Czech, German, English and Hebrew. I think it was pretty new because everything looked super nice. The information about the prison was very thorough, it had to take forever to translate all the documents and everything. Everything was just so tragic. They had journal entries on everything from overcrowding to extreme temperatures to no food to hopes of leaving, etc. One of them was from a group of Czechs written on New Years Eve, 1942 and it was so optimistic, they were sure the war would end soon and 1943 would hold good things for them, they rang in the new year singing the Czech national anthem, "Kde Domov Muj?".
It took us forever to find our way out of town, we missed the bus because the last bus on Saturdays is at like 3:30 so we had to walk to the next town and take the train. On the way out, there was a huge Communist monument and I took a picture by it. I might use it as my facebook picture.
Well I am not going back to Olomouc this afternoon with the group. I think I am going to Pilzen, Karlovy Vary, and Domozlice over the next couple of days and will go back on Tuesday or Wednesday. It doesn't make sense to go all the way back across the country and not see everything I wanted to see when it's so close now. I won't be missing any lectures, either. I will miss the real dance Monday night with a live band and polka competition so that's rough. I wish I could do both but when push comes to shove, it will be more memorable to go to the cities, especially Domozlice where I have relatives from. Well I have to go now, maybe to see the Botanical Gardens or to St. Vitus if I can find out when Mass is. Na Scledano (See you later)

Missed you at Czech Days!
Sounds like you've been doing some cool things around the old C.R. Terezin must have been pretty moving. Too bad you will miss the dance, but I hope you are successful in your other visits. I think we will be going back to Wilber for the rest of the Czech-Slovak Queen pageant tonight. Aren't we all thankful for our heritage and for our parents/grandparents who passed on this love of all things Czech!!!! Take care, Ben and be safe. God bless you in your travels.
