Today its hot as usual. I decided to go and wait for the Uffizi so Val can live vicariously through me-haha. And because everyone says itās amazing. So anyway, I went out to dinner last night with this girl from Quebec, walked by the river, listened to music, you know, romantic things people do in Florence. The lasagna was incredible, and it was not too expensive. In fact, the beer was as much as my entree! We met some people from Michigan at the table next to ours. The bell from the nearby Duomo was ringing for pretty much the entire meal without stopping for some reason. Hmm...

After dinner, we were walking down this side street, going to a piazza and these two Italian guys came up and acted all friendly, joking and singing and giving high fives, talking about speaking English and stuff. Then one slapped me on the chest, followed by the other guy. I thought it was strange but I was just glad they didnāt take anything from me. But when I was brushig my teeth last night I noticed my gold chain I always wear was gone. Those slick bastards stole it right off my neck. So to anyone coming to Italy, be wary of anyone who is trying to be overly friendly or touchy with you. But out of all things I would have wanted to lose or have stolen, that would propbably be the first. Still no fun. Oh well. Now Iām going to wait outside the Uffizi to see the marvelous David, then take one of the million trains from here to Rome. I hope its not hard to find a place to stay.

Buono!
Sounds like a perfect evening in Florence, other than getting your necklace stolen. Those thieves sure can be slick! Maybe you can get a new one on the Ponte Vecchio! Sure hope you think the Uffizzi is as great as we wll think it is!:) Love you! Blessings!

Hello World Traveler
Aaaahhh, Florence. Beautiful place. Thanks for bringing back memories of a wonderful lazy day in that great city. We didn't make it in at the Uffizi but just being outside was amazing. Sorry about the gold chain. I'm sure one of your girlfriends will buy you a new one! Enjoy the Gelato - Julie's favorite was the peppermint, mine was the cinnamon. You'll love Rome! Collesium, Trevi Fountain, St Peter's Basilica, Sistine chapel, aaaahhh Rome. Be careful and have fun. Can't wait to swap stories of Europe. We're praying for you! Love Ya! Dan and Julie
PS. We wrote earlier but we got deleted.

Oooooooooooohh!
I am hoping that the wait in line is worth the magnificent experience inside the Uffizi. Seeing some of the world's finest art in person- I'm so pleased for you! Remember to soak in all these fabulous experiences as they are the sweet stuff of life! Except the bad stuff like getting your chain stolen which I'm sure you learned from at least. God bless your trip to Rome with safety and great lodging! Love you! Val
