Have you ever woken up after playing soccer at 12,000 feet? It is not easy, everyone who played had to drag their old butts out to face today´s challenge. We started at 8 am and wandered through the beginnings of the Amazon. It was amazing. Waterfalls, rivers, vegetation, unbelieveable. A couple of times we actually felt like men when there was certain death ahead if we misstepped crossing the river. Some of us, Kush, had a moment and it helped. There is something mystical about this country and its people. Speaking of people, Wesley and Tom took pictures of every person, man, woman, or child that we encountered. It was well worth it. The people have so little we have so much. We have a lot to bring back and teach our children. At lunch we encountered a 3 legged dog, we felt horrible for the dog. Until we found out his leg was tied up because he kept getting in the food. Would this work on the kids at home?
I don´`t care how much DEET you put on here, you will get bitten many times. Our stroll turned into a battle versus the flies at one point near the river, the flies one. We said good bye to our horsemen who were unbelieveable for the 4 days, what a hard and simple life and boarded our bus. At one point we all had to get off of the bus because we may have had too much weight and would have fallen through the bridge into the river. Nice.
Anyway, at the end of the bus drive we actually began the trek on the Inca trail and arrived at yet another beautiful lodge. Unbelieveable how these lodges were hand made with all of the material brought up the side of the mountain.
We are truly lucky to experience this as individuals but more importantly with friends.
