Day 10 Drive to Lisbon
We left Porto and stopped by an art museum with extensive gardens. I wasn't all that thrilled with the inside of the building or the art exhibits, but the grounds were very pretty. I did find a great bag (billboard material) for a good price.
We arrived in Lisbon right in the middle of some great architecture. The Portuguese Pavilion, Calatrava Metro Station, Huge shopping mall all of it on the marina. There was a gondola in the background and lots of interesting fountains. It felt a lot safer here than Porto. The food courts in malls here are so much nicer and have great food for a decent price. The shops are rather expensive, but the clothes are really cute. The hotel is nice, another good spend on money.
Looking back, I would: spend one less day in Barcelona, One more day in San Sebastian, One less in Porto. Anyway, while in Lisbon, we had Fernando walk us around. Here's the thing about him: when he leaves, you leave, or you get left. Fernando waits for no one. Those who fall behind are left behind. He sticks to the pirate's code. It was a nice day, and when it started getting dark, we headed to our hotel, which was probably my favorite out of them all. (It had donuts for breakfast.)
Then as I was headed to bed I hear a knock and find out that Jennifer had an accident in the shower and might need stitches. Sarah, one of our guides was in my room for the night and so she had to get up and go check it all out. So what happened was that the shower head fell off and cut her (2" long deep gash) but Sarah doesn't know how to speak portugese, only Spanish. Luckily she didn't need stitches and I was able to give her my butterfly bandages to keep it closed. So, THANKS MOM for making me bring those!!! They came in handy!
