Lonely planet made sure to note that Placencia was once called a Sleepy Fishing Village before the tourism industry and snorkelling came to town, but since then it has become a Fishy Sleeping Village. And I can agree, with some of the locals you meet, you have to wonder what their motivation for everything is and at what cost they will perform some activities.

I did meet a nice older man who is an investor and builder in Placencia. He told me how the whole island has changed and what celebrities have stayed at which resorts. It seems that people tend to stay on the other end of the peninsula and not at the tip. I wouldn't blame them because the more recent resorts were built over there and have more luxurious amenities. But still, the sand at Placencia was extremely rough and the water wasn't necessarily great. I tried to buy a flute that was made out of the bark of the gum tree. The girl wanted 30 BZ, but I knew it wasn't that much. I tried to get her below half but she wouldn't even bargain with me once I left. She claims that she wants to send her daughter to high school with her handicrafts. And she lives over in the country and rides into town to sell her crafts. It was kinda nice talking to the locals to see how they lived and to see what really goes down in Belize.

I was able to have more cinnamon rolls as well. These were good, but it wasn't as good as Caye Caulker's. But it was funny because the kids in the next house over started to beg for a cinnamon roll they even offered some passport they found that looked like me. I was curious because I hoped it wasn't mine and they were little rascals that stole it. But they told me the name and I knew I had the only key to my room and no one would ever look where I kept it. So I gave them a cinnamon roll in hopes they would never even try to steal anything of mine.

The next day I had bank troubles and didn't know how I'd get more money since the ATMs didn't accept my card. So I couldn't leave until I figured out how to get more money because I didn't want to get stuck somewhere else without cash. So I ended up staying an extra day in Placencia. That night the Cali couple organized a football game at a field behind us. It was great to play football again. But I was so tired halfway through so I played goalie, but I did a fairly decent job stopping one of the locals shots high up.

That night the whole hostel decided to go eat dinner together at De Tatch, our favorite restaurant. Pretty nice that the whole place made such great company we'd go to dinner together. I learned that the Swedish girl was actually a psychologist so we talked a lot about intelligence testing and how it works over there. Of course we all went out for the night and crazy things happened. Someone accidentally hit a girl so she pulled a knife on him so we all left that place. Crazy people.
