I managed to take a night bus over to Popoyan so that I can see some archaeological sites nearby. The city itself didn't seem like much but I figured that it would be a logical stopover on my way to Ecuador instead of something like Cali which thrives on nightlife. After my night bus, I arrived, checked into my hostel and walked around town. The following day I decided to skip the archaeological sites and go straight to the nearby national park - thus requiring a 4 am wake up call. And now I'm back here. Popoyan and Purace national park themselves were fairly insignificant. They had some nice things, but the story itself is in the adventures that happened on the bus.

For shock factor and to scare my relatives, instead of telling the normal story I shall only leave in the (greatly exaggerated) bad parts:

-Taxi ride that was twice as long and twice as expensive as it should've been because rain traffic killed the traffic lines to bus station.
-Lights shut off at Bogota bus station due to blackout
-Heavy traffic leaving Bogota thus delaying three hours
-Smelling fried grease (in reality - overactive sweat glands) on the bus
-Watching horror movies only on the night bus
-Tired achy joints from awkward sleeping positions
-Missed the stop to the volcano
-Waited 3 hours to catch the return bus
-Sat on the steps because there were no seats
-Watched the steep cliffs right beside the highway
-Watched a worker go out the side bus door straight into the passenger window - while the bus was moving.
-Got off the bus too early because I didn't think the bus was going to the station.

But it was all worth it - got amazing pictures. And helped a lot of people out and saw more of rural Colombia.
