August 12th,
The dreaded ride to Paris, another train. The first one was pretty fast, but I got into the cars at the end of the train - a very long train- went to the dinning car for coffee and croissant and made the mistake of sitting so I would be riding backwards. Well this has the effect just like when I read and ride in a car. You got it, I started throwing up and was miserable. It did not help that when I looked out the window I could see the front of the train wrapping around the alps of Switzerland and you know me, between the running to the bathroom and back to my chair I hated to not take a few pictures. Blah, Blah...

I survived, but by the time I got on the second train I must have looked pretty bad. I did not realize that the train was actually two different trains and I got on the one that my ticket in first class was not for. Border patrol was on to get us over the French line and they told me at the next stop I would have 3 minutes to jump out and run to train following us to find car 12. GREAT- at some point one of the men that works on the train took my bag and took me to a different first class car that was empty and put me there as he could see I wasn't going to jump and sprint to well. Later he and some of the ticket takers sat in there and read and talked. I slept and woke up every once and a while and apologized for snoring. They just smiled, at some point bought me a drink and I was cured (sort of) 5 hours later when I arrived in Paris.

When I was leaving the station in Gossau the people I had been staying with for the past 4 days sang "Don't cry for me Argentina" it was funny and people stood around and wondered if I was important or if they were crazy. I say both are true of them and me.

When I arrived at Kevin's house he was there and because of the rain was not leaving to go to the forest. It is a four day weekend and he and everyone it seems that lives here leave town at any chance. Soon all of the people staying there came in and also some of his friends and girlfriend (Chris). I had arrived on party night, but when the group hit the streets at midnight, I went to bed. Everyone was nice, two of them took me to a store as it was going to be closed Sunday for holiday ,they could not speak English but we got there and back fine. I got my regular list of food that I can understand here. Grapes, watermelon, bread, sausage (I think it is really a little baloney that you just cut and eat out of the package ) but they call it sausage, sprite and water, there you go meals until Monday ha ha. 2 girls from Sweden , 1 girl from S. Korea , and 1 guy from S. Korea will be all sleeping in the living room - me in Kevin's bedroom and he will stay at his girlfriend's house.

Love to all,
Beverly
