Today was our first real day as tourists :) we visited the cities of Lucca and Pisa... I must say it was an amazing experience... Not simply because of the sights we visited but also because of the awesome group of people on this trip. Having the opportunity to interact students from various universities and programs has been an interesting experience. So many different personalities and temperament has its high and low points. Which is always interesting :/

With each different sight there came an entirely new learning experience. The architecture was beyond beautiful and the history behind the hard working sweat put into these buildings is astonishing. I can't imagine what it could have been like as a laborer during the time at which each structure was built, working day and night, often times until death. We tend to have things so easy in this day and time...so easy that we have become extremely lazy and dependent on technology as the Italian children are dependent on their parents for all of their needs until the age of 30-40. I moved out of my mom's home at the age of 18 and I can't even fathom the idea of being completely dependent on my parents until I get married. It's typical Italian culture

It was funny to see all of the stares that we received as we walked through the two cities. Both stares from men and women. We saw a couple of what appeared to be biracial black women and they seemed to be in awe at seeing a group of black women in Italy. I'm not really sure if they were simply curious to see group of Americans touring the city or if it was just the fact that we were black..
