Time to head to Golden Rock and for me hopefully one of the trip's highlights.
Passing a line of monks and nuns dressed in the pink clutching their black alms bowls collecting their morning alms or food.
Before we got to the Kaw Goon Cave we made two stops. First was to see a row of statues lining a side road.
The second was an unusual sight … men planting rice.
Already how friendly the locals were as they came towards us in their vehicles, they would start waving to us, not the other way round.
Kaw Goon Cave is also known as the cave of the Ten Thousand Buddhas.
Lunch stop was back at the Mountain View Resort.
Then at the jumping off point to Golden Rock at Kinpun, just out from the town of Kyaikto, we were lucky being a group had a truck of just 16 + 1 all to ourselves. The locals were not so fortunate.
The last bit was a 45 min walk up this steep switch back trail.
Mountain Top Hotel was close to Golden Rock itself from where the sun set.
After dinner back returned armed with a tripod to capture more of what was happening. Sure enough the locals were out bunking down to sleep there for the night.
See separate entries for more photos and extra detail.
