Effectively the last day of this Intrepid tour of Bali.

After breakfast, with of course fresh strawberries instead of the usual fruit salad, we continue down the still mist covered and cool mountain top back to the hot and humid Ubud. It was like "chalk and cheese".

Our only stop was to the Bumi Sehat Foundation which the Intrepid Foundation also supports. Founded in 1995, this is a not for profit organisation of committed families, midwives, doctors, nurses, teachers, staff and volunteers from many countries. The programme provides:
- community health development
- education opportunities for a more hopeful future
- building local capacity to serve the villages
- supporting the human right to wellness and health
- disaster preparedness, response, relief and recovery
- village based recycling, environmental support and education.

We saw the empty midwifery rooms plus general health services whose daily clinic was in action. They use where possible acupuncture, pediatric, general medicine, reiki, stress relief via meditation and HIV / AIDS prevention.

My Canon lens was all fogged up with the sudden change from the cool mountain top to the humid Ubud weather that I had to use my tiny waterproof Olympus at the Bumi Sehat Foundation clinic!

Then back into the rain (first time really in 3 weeks) and the return to Artini 2 Cottages in Ubud for just 1 more night.

Some free time left to firstly arrange next door a 9 am shuttle tomorrow to get me to Kuta 50,000 Rp. The plan is to catch a local taxi up 2 beaches to Seminyak where I will spend my last night in Indonesia. Otherwise it is about a 200,000 Rp taxi fare from here direct to Seminyak.

Off for lunch at Batan Waru and they had Avocado Juice (out of season and if available expensive) 22,000 Rp plus a plate of Mie Goreng 42,000 Rp = 73,920 Rp (NZ$10 or US$8). They make themself daily their fresh noodle.

Then the last-minute shopping which to me meant going back to 2 of the 4 shops that I had seen a week earlier to pick up some summer short sleeve shirts.

It was still drizzling in the afternoon so I took the opportunity to start reflecting on what this trip meant to me which I will include in a separate highlights entry for Java and Bali containing some of the better images that I have managed to capture in the last 3 weeks here.

Farewell dinner at 7.30 pm for me and Ellen combined with Nova and the other 3 (Sibyle, Phillippa & Kerry) continuing onto Lombok and their group welcome dinner at Pundi Pundi. For me it was Bebek Pundi - Pundi’s succulent crisy duck served with Balinese vegetables, crackers, sambal and flavour rice 78,000 Rp. Ice Bread which is authentic deep fried ice cream with sliced orange and strawberry sauce 27,000 Rp. That plus a Lime Juice 20,000 Rp came to a total of 144,375 Rp (NZ$20 or US$16).

The final Bali group photo as tomorrow we head in our different directions.
