China and Japan Day in Buenos Aires. Last day in Buenos Aires …. 3 pm remise pick up 110 pesos / US $ 25 / NZ $ 35 plus tolls arranged by Nadia GAP instead of the 130 + pesos by the hotel so what to do before that?
Read on the plane coming back from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires about the small Chinatown. As I was on the D line, it was only 12 stops to the Juramento station near the end of the line and then 5 blocks walk northwards. The hotel receptionist confirmed my hunch as to where it was in Belgrano. Passed a disgraceful copy of the Statue of Liberty.
I was surprised that while it was after 11 am when I got there, many of the shops still had their roller doors down. Nothing different …. usual array of Chinese nic nacs and foods….
Subte back to Palermo and a walk pass the zoo with the pink flamingos down to the Japanese Gardens which I had passed on the first day's city bus tour. The 8 pesos / US $ 2 / NZ $ 2.50 entry fee enabled me to have a wonderful peaceful time to sit and reflect on this trip.
Plenty of time to walk back to the hotel, soon 3 pm pick up time for the airport came around and then the 2 long flights back home crossing the Andes via a stop over just as the sun set in Santiago.
Adios and mucho gratis South America.
