Where I stayed
A lovely fine sunny morning greeted me as I was driven to the airport. No clouds to speak of. Why wasn't today yesterday meaning the skies had cleared? I'm glad for the decision to have a window seat and was fortunate that it was on the right hand side of the plane. As we took off I had a magic view of Rio beneath the blue skies. I could see Corcovado with his arms outwards stretching standing tall over the sandy beaches and Sugar Loaf …. I knew Rio was big but from above it is huge the way it spreads out into the hinterland.
These photos of Rio de Janerio show the expanse of the city as we climbed, banked right passing over Corcovado / Christ the Redeemer, St Theresa, Metropolitan Cathedral, Sugar Loaf, and Copacabana Beach and then south east towards the small city of Foz de Iguacu.
I was hoping for a view of the falls from above but my luck was out.
