Today was marked down as a quiet day, transfer between the 2 hotels and fill in the sight seeing gaps around Hotel Carson which is right by Florida St, the major closed of street come pedestrian mall.
Wilton Hotel allowed me to stay till 11 am to finish uploading the last few entries. A 16 paseo (NZ$5) taxi trip brought me into the heart of town. The only thing going for Hotel Carson is the location a hop step and a jump from Florida St. The internet connection is 10 paseo for 24 hours. But how fast is it? Didn’t try. The decor is very dated and this room is oh so small. Thank goodness I am only here for a night.

Gaston, from the 11 am BA free walking tour, mentioned that on Saturday and Sunday the Pink House is open, worth while to wander through and more importantly FREE.

I was pleasantly surprised at the interior of the Pink House. It is all YELLOW and undergoing more renovations. Look at the portraits on the wall. Some of the images surprised me as being very modern.

At the Pink House, some other tourists mentioned that the Ave 9 de Julio by was all closed off by the Obelisk so off I walked. This is suppose to be the widest street in the world but this fact is not true. It is made up of 3 streets. The widest street in the world is in Brasilia, Brazil.

By 5 pm I was all walked out having made my way over to Plaza de Martin again where another film crew was in action.

The 7 pm GAP introductory group meeting saw a collection of 11 travellers plus me from Nadia one of the local 3 GAP staff workers. We are a mini United Nations with 2 x Aussies, 3 x Americans, 1 x Canadian, a Yugoslavian living in Canada, 1 x British, I x Dutch, 1 x Swede working in Brussels, an Italian .. and me the Kiwi. It appears that 3 independents pulled out at the last moment or else it would have been a full party of 15.

We gathered again at 8 pm and given 2 options by Nadia’s, we opted and walked the 13 or was it 15 blocks over to San Thelmo and ate in a local restaurant. I had 300 gm of tenderloin steak plus a side dish of salad which was enough in itself. The house wine or we called it penguin wine as the container was in the shape of a penguin was OK. As for a bottle of beer, I did not expect a 970 ml bottle!. This was a real local restaurant and by 9.30 pm it was nearly full. The locals eat late in Argentina. No, I was not cooking the other diners meat but after taking the photo of the chef, he gestured to me to be in the photo and he would take it ... Wow, totally unexpected…

A drink in the local pub (Coke for me after that 970 ml beer!) and by 11 am we were ready to call it quits. Nadia was still there till 4 am as she had met her boss and friends.
