Hello all
It's been a while I know, but we’re now officially on African time and things just take a little longer than usual.
On Tom’s (Bruce’s boss) recommendation we decided to go down to the Kenyan coast to a little place called Malindi and we spent three nights there. Very nice little place to relax in. It was so hot we spent most of our time on the beach, in the pool or just lazing and having a couple of beers – yes beers. I never used to like beer, but it is so hot here and it really is the best thing for it… an ice cold beer. There are lots of Italians in Malindi and therefore great food too. We treated ourselves to a little lodge right on the beach and went on a snorkeling trip for a day. Great fun and we saw quite a lot of starfish, angel fish, little barracuda, puffer fish.
For lunch they stopped the boats on a sand bank and set up the braai (barbecue) in the sea. I couldn’t believe it?! Very cool. Only in Africa! Lucky there were only very small waves. On the menu was barracuda, crayfish, prawns, rice and fresh mango's and pineapple for dessert. Delicious!
All I can say is Bruce and I aren’t exactly going hungry here in Africa. So much good food. On the way home we strolled back along the beachfront and I noticed a lot of young guys walking along. Some more spruced up than others. They call them "Beach Boys" and let's just say they offer any service, if you know what I mean ;0)
