DAY 41 – Fri 9 Mar 2012
We were as warm as toast under the feather duvet tonight but no frost overnight – not as cold as last night (5'C outside). One of the motorhomes in has been on the road touring the South Island for over a year. We left Gabriels Gully for Tapanui about midmorning with not much traffic. We arrived at Whisky Gully Reserve by lunchtime. After setting up we decided to go for a 2 hour walk to a waterfall. Wow – did that take us a long time…a lot of the track had been washed out by storms so at times we couldn’t find the track and had to look for the markers on the trees. So different from most of the walks we’ve been on when there’s been a well formed track to follow. After an hour and a half we decided we’d had enough and headed back to the 'van. By the time we got back it was about 5pm and we went down to town to have a BBQ and catch up with Bruce’s cousin who lives there.  Thanks for a lovely evening!!
Time to head further south tomorrow…..
