Today, music came to the school. The children from grade 1 upwards, have music lessons every week, but it seems to be a strange combination of learning beat notes (with homework just to copy pages and pages of the same note) and singing songs. It is not easy to make head and tail of.
Today, the kids paid 40 lempiras each to see a classical music concert. It was a local high school I think (the students were maybe 17-18), and so that was a bit steep price-wise. However, the kids obviously do not see many orchestras and so it was a treat. All the kids went, from Kinder (aged 3) up to grade 6 and all of them were very good at sitting still, on chairs for the performance. The students were very good at explaining all the instruments and showing the difference between a violin and viola, for example. They all enjoyed it immensely.
That has been the highlight so far this week! We will continue the Olympics tomorrow, and have the closing ceremony, and it is also a half day as this weekend is the presidential elections. We also have Monday off, as the election result will not be in by then. Will report back with photos of the Olympics at the weekend!

It sounds like fun and good for the children to see instruments and hear them played
