So we finished the Yellowhead Hwy (which was a good road) and turned north onto the Stewart-Cassiar Hwy today (which is not as good). Cloudy, windy, rainy, can't see the mountains, can't make the turns into rest areas, snow on the ground becoming more prevalent, and the campground we were going to stay at was still closed for the season (Meziadin Lake), so we wearily kept driving not knowing what we'd find down the road. Luckily, we found a nice rest area next to a little (frozen) lake and dry camped for the night. We did see six black bears along the Cassiar Hwy today (all separate sightings) and some caribou, which are very skittish, especially when Monty blows the airhorn to clear them off the road!
