Pronounced Qwe-NEL, it has a gold panning history, and is mainly a logging & mill town today. It rained off & on all day getting here, 200 miles, and we stayed in the Walmart parking lot overnight (after asking, of course). We looked around the cute little town, walked along the HUGE & muddy Fraser River (spring runoff), and made a shocking discovery at the Canadian liquor store...a bottle of Potters vodka that costs $12 in the US costs $55 in Canada!! Every type of liquor, not just vodka, was around $55, so that'll slow down your cocktailing! We couldn't bring ourselves to pay it, so we left, and did a little Walmart shopping and found some great slip-on waterproof shoes for $12! These, we already know in one week, will be the best purchase for the entire trip north - rain, snow, mud, we've had it all this week!
