Sleep was difficult for reasons unknown. I got up at what I thought was 6am, but turned out to be 5am. Anyway, I still proceeded to have breakfast and get ready to decend Paglia Orba (2525m), the 3rd highest peak in Corsica. Using my torch I slowly followed the loose stoney path. But after an half an hour I decided I'd lost my way so I changed tact. Instead I would navigate round the moutain to be in a good position for the sunrise. Once there I sat on a chilly but windless morning watching light for, over the horizon. Then the intense organge ball rising. It could have been magical but it soon dipped under clouds before its full glory was radiating.
Decending the 400m meters to the refuge on loose rocks was no easy feat
Arriving a little after midday to an empty refuge I found some free food supplies of salsa tuna and a tin of sweetcorn. Lunch was a filling mustard mackeral mash with sweetcorn and Corsician thyme. This knocked me out as I then slept for a few hours.
Waking up I met a friendly couple from Quebec. Chatted to them for a few hours while cooking up a pasta feast and then crashing early.
