Days 2 to 9. They went by so fast
16 to 21/4/08

Some way to start, a Cricket/Drinking Tournament at Karon Beach. One of the aims of the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour is to encourage the game in this part of the world. As such there was a range of quality from ex-Internationals to, well me. Saying that, this was the first time in 3 tournaments that I have taken part in where we did not end up in the 'spoon' division. Then to everyone's surprise the TEAM proceeded to win a game. A victory in cricket, no matter how small, was a new thing for me. But we were humble and not knowing any better we did what we do in defeat, drink! I would have liked to have inserted a picture here of my batting. But I'm afraid no camera was fast enough to catch me behind the crease.

On one night out I was playing Jenga with the bar staff. Not wanting to pay a playing fee & to get the party going (lame justifications?) I suggested that the loser should pole dance. Obviously as a Jenga Professional she was the bookmaker's favorite. But with a steady hand I took the fight to the penultimate brick, hang on, its swaying.....it's gone. Damn I had lost! Brittney Spears, I'm a slave for you. It was a classic song to choose to follow through on the bet. My father would be proud of me!

Up the road from the tournament in Patong a Bunbury couple was getting married joined by around 70 friend from WA. Their party included the Richard, one of two Yorkshiremen I know living in Bunbury (I thought people never got out of that County). With friends from Cricket and Bunbury needless to say there were some big nights out in the 8 days I was there. But with all good things, they must end, especially when it costs money.
