We arrived in Kaslo yesterday evening and it seems like a cute, little town and closer in size to Nakusp, where we are headed to next. We are staying at the doctor's condo, which is an amazing one-bedroom place that overlooks the marina and the mountains.
After doing some grocery shopping today, we headed out for a hike up the Buchanan Access Viewpoint trail. The trail itself wasn’t very long, but quite steep and a really annoying combination of ice and snow. Luckily, I had Chris’ grips that I could attach to my boots so I didn’t kill myself going up. There was a beautiful view of the whole town from quite far up, which was really pretty. The way down the mountain was a little bit trickier until I accidentally discovered we could sort of toboggan down on our bums. Half the fun getting down the hill turned into how long we could slide down for! I’m just glad I didn’t rip my rain pants!
When we finished up with our hike we headed just out of town to Ainsworth Hot Springs. It was a lot busier there than some of the other hot spring places we have been too, and the water wasn’t quite as hot except in the natural caves they had in one section. They have opened up the area where the water naturally comes in and you can walk through these rock tunnels that go right into the mountain behind the spa. Sooo relaxing!
