Well Friday morning got up early (again) and got the bus to Dumre then the local jeep up to Bandipur.  On the bus i was sitting next to one of the Intrepid travel everst guides so i chatted to him for a bit and the others as well as this englisg girl Lucy who was also heading to Bandipur so we got on the jeep together.  We were squished in the back of the jeep (bench style seats running along the sides) with about 15 others, 5 chickens and a goat (all were sacrificed later in Bandipur for the festival).  the company lucy is a volunteer through owns the old bandipur inn but no rooms were available due to the festival so we shared a double room in a homestay next door.  bandipur is like stepping back into an elizabethan town, the architecture is old newari style with carved window shutters and one cobbled street running the length of the town.  we explored the hills in the afternoon and went to where they were sacrificing the animals, yuk, blood everywhere!  after that, we sat with 2 of the other voluneteers and wtched the locals set up the stage for the performance that ight, basiucally a bunch of trestlye tables pushed together balanced on rocks and covered in cloth.  after that we walked up the hill there and watched the sunset over the mountains, really pretty.  there was supposed to be dancing but it was cancelled as there was a fight later over who got the sacrificed goats leg, very important as the priest that was there had performed the ceremony.  daal baht for dinner and early to bed

The next morning, still half alseep i looked out the window and saw the snowpeaks for the first time! absolutely amazing, we walked back up the hill to get a better view.  after brekkie of muesli, yoghurt curd, omelette and toast (plus the masala tea, like a chai tea) i got the jeep to Dumre with an australian couple who live in bangledesh, we were all on the roof (yes i was on the spare type at the front of the roof - best view of the mountains), wasnt too scary except on the straight when the driver decided he would pick up some speed.  made it in one piece and waited for about half an hour for the bus to take us back to kathmandu.  arri9ved about 5 hours later and straightt ot the Shangrila to meet the tour group.  There is 7 of u, 2 women from queenstown, 2 girls from melbourne and 2 guys from perth.  we all had dinner at the hotel to get to know each others and seems like a great bunch to be spending 3 weeks with
