Hello from Malawi! Land of Madonna's adopted babies!
We had to leave Zanzibar, unfortunately, but have arrived in Malawi which is beautiful and full of very friendly people. Our last night at Sunset Beach Bungalows was sad knowing I have to leave such an amazing beach, but we got on a bus early the next morning to head to Stone Town for a spice tour and a tour of the slave chambers. Both were pretty interesting, we got to taste and smell a bunch of different plants and spices, and the slave chambers were very interesting but sad. The environment and feel reminded me a lot of visiting Dachau concentration camp in Germany.
After the tours ended we had a quick lunch, checked into our hotel, and then Den and I roamed around Stone Town for awhile, all covered from shoulders to knees, and got some pretty nice souvenirs. That night we met the group to head to this bar called Africa House to watch the sunset, and then we went to the Stone Town fish market to get some grub. The fish market is super cool, even though I don't eat sea food (I got chicken instead). They had all this fresh fish skewers and the famous Zanzibar pizza (pancake, chocolate, and banana... .delicious!). We called it an early night considering we had to be awake at 530 to eat breakfast and catch the fairy back to the mainland... :(
The fairy ride was fine.. no sickness this time either! We had a long drive day and a bush camp that night, meaning no toilets, no showers, no electricity, and no fun. I managed to catch a cold on our last day of Zan and that made the bush camp experience not very enjoyable. Not to mention we had to do another one the next day. FML. All went fine though, and after another long day of driving yesterday we made it into Malawi and to the great Lake Malawi.
Seeing Lake Malawi was a total deja vu for me... it looks so much Lake Tahoe it is crazy. Just a huge lake with mountains surrounding it. Besides the view, Lake Malawi and Lake Tahoe are nothing alike... Lake Tahoe is beautiful and clean snow runoff... Lake Malawi is beautiful and dirty full of parasites that go under your skin and grow into 5 inch long worms. Lovely. We are all going to have to take this medication afterwards. I asked one of the locals about the worms and he told me they don't have them and proceeded to drink a handfull of the water! haha Whatev. He is probably immune to it!
Last night and today we relaxed all day and it was amazing! This guy Ivan on our tour hypnotized Den and it provided 2 hours of absolute entertainment! I have got videos and pictures, so don't worry! She thought a guy on our tour was Justin Timberlake and started to speak martian! It was great laughs!
Tomorrow we leave early to head to another beach campsite on Lake Malawi for 3 days. That equals 3 more days of tanning and relaxation! Cannot wait! I hope everyone is well at home, and Steph I am sad my internet cut out when we were chatting! I miss you sissy!!!!!! I miss you Madski, Riles, Mom, and Dad too!!! And all the others reading!! Love you!!!!
Talk soon!!!

Hey Brittney-
"Worms under your skin" yuk- once again be careful!
Denise under a trance- oh my!
Sounds like lovely weather and great times. We are still cold and waiting for the snow to fly. X-mas shoppers are busy because it is only 4 weeks to the big day. Everyone here says hi!
Love you lots
Mom
Hey Britt I love hearing your perspective on the trip. Denise didn't even mention the hypnosis in her blog. Perhaps she doesn't remember?? I hope you'll share the video. Keep having fun and stay safe. Heather
