02 July

We finally got settled into the hotel at 01:30 for a not so good night's sleep.  Due to the exorbitant cost of the room and the late hour, all three of us shared one room, with Randy sleeping on the cushions of a fold-out couch on the floor.

We got up at 08:00, checked out of that hotel, then moved to the Hotel Singh Sahib, which was considerably nicer.  We had breakfast and rested for awhile.  We then walked around the neighborhood streets for a few hours.  The temperature was surprisingly pleasant since the monsoon rains had moved in this past weekend.  Temperatures during the past week were 100 - 115 degrees Fahrenheit.  Today's temperature was in the mid-90s.

We had a great dinner with Randy's friend Branko at Indian restaurant near Branko's office.  We had a succulent roasted leg of lamb and a variety of Indian side dishes.  We drank Sandpiper beer, which Branko had understood to be called "Sandpaper" beer.  It would turn out to have been the best meal of our stay in India.

During the meal we had a chance to get to know Branko and to enjoy the pleasure of his company.  He shared with us his thoughts about India and made some useful recommendations for  the rest of our stay.

We then went back to our hotel satiated and went to bed immediately.
