Where I stayed
Punta Cana Resort
No, not marijuana, but the shockingly potent beverage otherwise known as "Dominican Viagra". I will leave you to your own imaginations. We came across this little piece of local life on the second day of our trip aboard a boat. The crew was passing around a very suspicious looking glass jug with God-knows-what stuffed in it (we found out later that it was a strange assortment of bark, African roots, and spices) insisting we try some. Well, Brett and Kyle were the brave ones, took the first shot, and then began the first of many pleasant (and humorous) Mamajuana stories.
Other noteworthy experiences include the gorgeous Ecologia Reserva with its crystalline lagoons and slightly sulfur-smelling water. Megan would also like to add the giant banana spiders spinning their webs above and around our heads. Speaking of spiders, we saw a giant tarantula on our patio one night. For those of us that went, New Years Eve was an unforgettable night thanks to Imagine (club in a cave!). We also ventured into a local shanty town to see what the church plant was working on there. And finally, tons and tons of beautiful sunsets soon followed by starry, moon-lit nights.
