Nights on Phi Phi can be wild at the best of times but Xmas eve will take a lot of beating. My friend Eddie from home and his girlfriend Jo were on the island which was class. Visa Divers (my dive shop) is Scandinavian owned plus we have quite a few Instructors and Divemasters from Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Therefore a huge
Scandinavian buffet was organised to kick off the evening. I can't even begin to list off the foodstuffs that were on show but I'm quite sure I sampled every one of them. A night of dancing and debauchery followed at our local, Rolling Stoned bar where the band played late into the night. A lot of credit goes to those individuals that dressed up in full santa suits. It's stiflingly hot on Phi Phi at the best of times, try jumping around in a tight red cotton suit and see how you feel. I was happy enough to go with just the hat.

The next morning myself, Ed and Jo, still wearing our santa hats, had Christmas morning breakfast at my local coffee shop. I don't know if I will ever spend Christmas on a tropical island again so I was not going to miss the opportunity to sit on the beach and sip a beer while offering my respects to the man upstairs. A dip in the Andaman sea in santa hats was also a box that was ticked this Christmas Day. That evening Kung arrived from Koh Samui and a nice gathering of 8 souls went for a Turkey and Duck dinner. It was a long way of off the mothers dinner but I can't complain given how far I was away from home. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day on the beach is something I will not forget in a hurry.....
