WEDNESDAY, 11th October

Quite cold today, very foggy and it did not lift at all much during the day. I went on my own to do some shopping across the road and after lunch I went into the library again. Our usual parking spot was full so I had to sneak into the private part along side the 'closed' offices. I checked out the Singen bus timetable for the car pickup on Tuesday. It's not far off now before we leave Moos. We had satisfactory replies from my emails the day before and a chatty email from friend C in Sydney telling us all about their new bathroom and kitchen. We won't recognise their house when we get back. No mention of husband A. Has he gone away for the duration of the works? Heard all about other friend A's mishaps in Bali. She really needs her own personal air bag to protect her against collision or she travel in an air bubble. No reply from Britrail so I went into GNER who seemed to actually operate the train service to the north and eventually, after an hour of trawling through their site, obtained tickets at 59 for two compared to some 200 on offer from Britrail. [I really do not understand their ticketing system. We also did a great deal on the Eurostar tickets. It might have had something to do with either the two of us being seniors or that I ticked the 'Australian national' box. The GNER tickets were actually quoted at a lower price for the second person ticket, ie. total 59...split 36 and 23 and we could pick them up at Kings Cross station. Maybe from a Nigerian standing in the shadow of platform 13!] The Browns in Edinburgh emailed to say that their car will not be available till Nov 3 because of insurance problems. He really must change his insurance company.

So we are now booked all the way from Moos to Dresden and from there to Edinburgh...bar a few hotel stops. But who shall we stay with in Edinburgh?...duh!
