On my flight to Bali I was surrounded by families from Singapore, who were all very nice, but the kids wouldn't stop crying, couples bickering... I realized I was going to have to make some effort to duck the resorts of Bali. So the first morning I hopped a boat to Nusa Lembongan, rode a moped around the island in 2 hours, and then took another boat to the much bigger and hardly populated Nusa Penida - which was amazing. Only 3-4 travelers visit the whole island a week. I went snorkling, and then we went to the cliffs to see the sunset. The water is crystal clear. It's hard to believe that nobody knows about this place. Just after today I can see why Bali (Lombok, etc.) is many people's favorite place. The people are incredibly fun and accommodating.
oh, and i paid $6 US to stay at a bungalow right on the beach : ) I love good exchange rates.
