Aug 12 Turkey

Turkey!! We made it. on our way to turkey i got up at around 3am and heard wind out on the patio. i got up and saw some very cool little lights on land, spaced out by several miles and it was very neat to see. we were almost at turkey. turkey wasn't as exotic as we had anticipated, but we had a great time. we were in the port of kusadasi. we departed the boat and met our minibus and tour guide, we'll call her ms. x because i cannot remember her name. x was very nice and very knowledgeable. we were on our way for about a 20 min bus right to ephesus. ephesus is an archaeological site, one of the largest in the mediterranean, very old and very impressive. you'll have to google to find out more as it's too much to type. we did sit on a toilet that was around long before christ, definitely a trip highlight.
after ephesus we took another 20 min drive to a small village called sirince. sirince was very quant, small little vendor stalls of people selling their goods. we tried local wines and did some shopping, then, time for lunch. lunch was served in a typical local house. there were only us and another couple and guide in our group so it was a nice small get together. we had stuffed grapeleaves, eggplant, salad, bread, wine, yogurt, all typical to the area. After lunch we went to a restaurant and had some turkish coffee and a lady read our fortunes by reading our cups. we departed the village and went back to kusadasi. we had some time to spend near the port and there was a big bazaar there, bunch of vendors, selling fake watches, leather, jewelry, tshirts and souveniers. These guys were pretty aggressive trying to get you to come into their shops.
later that night on the ship they had a huge bbq on the pool deck, all kinds of great food. they also had a local dance group come in and do traditional turkish dances along with music.

our next stop, Santorini Greece!
