Where I stayed
I was up early for a morning run out to Forggensee, then we packed up, ate a nice breakfast at the buffet downstairs, and checked out of the hotel. Cindy and Alycia rode the horse-drawn carriage most of the way up to Castle Neuschwanstein while Trey and I walked up. Built under the commission of King Ludwig II of Bavaria in the late 19th century, it's a fairy tale castle rather than a true fortress against invaders. It's the castle that Walt Disney based his on when building his first theme park. Most of the visitors were Americans, Orientals, Australians, and Brits, as a result of its "fake" status. Nevertheless, we had a good time and the castle is not only fun to tour but has some interesting history and stories behind it.
We also went up to the bridge overlooking the falls, before heading down the mountain in the steady rain. In a nearby town we ordered pizza for all of us as we started our long journey to Bernese Oberland.
