Awake at the usual stupid o clock, showered and straight to breky for the usual arid bread and pastries.

The rear tyre is shot to pieces so I took a new set down to el tyre shop to get them replaced. I was first in so Juan got straight on with it before the rest of the group showed up. He only charged 40 pesos to do the pair so I was well chuffed. He found that the front 2 securing bolts were missing as well which was lucky coz the forks could have wondered apart and that wouldn't have been good at 80mph!

I went down to the local Honda dealer which was only over the road to see if he had any, he didn't but he knew a man who might. He tried to explain to me where the shop was but I didn't get it so he gave up and walked me down to the local hardware shop. I showed the hardware geezer what I needed and he disappeared into the back for a minute and came back with the exact perfect bolts for me, I was well happy with that and they only cost 60 pence!

I then needed some more pesos so had to go and stand in a huge line to get some from the hole in the wall. Done that then went in search for another spare rear tyre. The local Kwaka dealer had one but it was a full on Enduro sand tyre and he wanted a million pounds for it so I told him to stick it up el butt holio.

Got the bike washed from the local valeter for 25 pesos and a dam fine job he done too. The bike was a right state after a few weeks of being abused.

We then left on our own and headed for Mendoza. We made good time without others costing us time with toilet breaks, fuel, coffee stops and making stupid decisions for you.

I will definitely remember the smell of Mendoza. There were dead dogs everywhere and you could smell them for miles! Bloated ones, splatted ones, and rotting ones, it was disgusting.

The landscape was great though, with the foothills of the Andes to the right, vineyards, orchards, ploughed fields and green green grass. There were people living in derelict houses right next door to immaculate places with pools.

Old sixties trucks driving around everywhere filled to the brim with black and green grapes. Fruit sellers on the roadsides with colourful fair in really nice towns with school kids everywhere.

We saw Barry and Jo on the way talking to a copper, I pulled over to see if they were OK and Jo ushered me on so I rode away. I later found out that he was bribing them out of 700 pesos or he would take there licenses. Lucky he didn't stop me coz I had bugger all in my pocket.

I haven't shaved in ages and it is really irritating me now coz it is rubbing on my neck tube. That will be my first job when I get in.

Got to the hotel which was passable and sorted out our gear. Martin and Rich came in quite late and then began to tell us that they went to the wrong town and booked themselves into the wrong hotel! Martin said he just about had his kit off and was ready for the shower before they realized there were no other bikes in the car park! What a pair of knockers.

We all went to the cafe next door for a burger which took a bloody millenia to arrive
and wasn't much cop anyway. Nobody had any change so I payed for the whole lot. Yes you read that right, I payed for the lot!

Bed at 11.30.

348 miles done.
