OK then, you've found me. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I shall begin.
This whole thing started with me wanting to travel but not in the conventional 'gap year' way. There is a large number of people who have done that and everyone knows someone that has. I was surfing the www. world and came across Nick Sanders, an adventurer/nutter who has circumnavigated the world many times on a Yamaha R1!  He was organizing a trip up the Pan American Highway for 2010. Straight away I was interested and got my name down quick. We eventually met and I got the nod. This was July 09.
This expedition is tagged 'the toughest motorcycle journey in the world'. It starts in Buenos Aires then goes south to the most southern tip of Argentina 'Ushuaia'. Then basically it is North until Alaska and then East to New York. It covers-
Argentina
Chile
Bolivia
Peru
Ecuador
Columbia
Panama
Costa Rica
Nicaragua
Honduras
Guatemala
Mexico
USA
Canada
Alaska
Canada
USA then to New York

This is somewhere in the region of 20,000 miles in 9 weeks!

I have always had the desire to travel but never got of my ass to do it. You need a good slap in the face to wake yourself up and realize time waits for no one especially not me. The usual excuses stop you from doing it, bills , work , mortgage, kids or whatever and if that slap never comes your time has run out. Well I'm not gonna let that happen! My cheek is still red from the slap and I'm off. Some would say this trip is a little extreme for a first timer but who cares, travel is travel. You cant temper the blade without putting it in the forge! I've packed in my job and don't know what I'm going to do on my return (if I do of course). More travel hopefully.
I have been to a few places, Australia, Canadian Rockies, French Alps, Cuba, Spain, Italy etc etc but I don't really want that to interfere with this to much. This is the blog for the 'long way up' only.

So this is it. This will be my (hopefully) daily blog of this adventure.

Hope I didn't bore you too much

See you on the other side.
