What I did
My reflection in a mirror.
Well it is the day before we leave. I am working nights. I have yet to pack. Jody has been packing and repacking for weeks. I do have a plan to get to the airport though, however she is very very unreliable so we will see.
So if you leave from Edmonton you have a few options to get to the airport.
a) Take a cab. It is about 60 bucks from down town and when you are leaving at 4 am in winter they are notoriously unreliable.
b) Take an airport shuttle. 15 bucks per person. They only pick up at certain times at certain hotels. You have to plan on how to get to said hotel and as with cabs, (if you have an anal retentive wife) you have to plan for child seats as well.
c) Find someone trustworthy to drop you off. We did the best we could on short notice.
d) Get a hotel in leduc and take a shuttle. Hotel rooms vary (in the $100 and up range) but the shuttle is usually free. Depending on where you stay parking is also usually free for about a week. After that they charge you a daily fee $7 the last time I heard.
e) Park at airport. Expensive and come back to a frozen vehicle. Unless money is no object then I think you can get indoor parking.
f) Public transit. Ah ha ha ha ha ha.
Our flight leaves at 6:45 am. So because of rules and other things (Jody) we have to be there 2 hrs early. It is about 30-40 minutes from our house to the airport so out the door at 4 am. FML. Should be really fun with 2 toddlers that don't get up well before 8am usually and don't get me started on how well Jody does with stress. Well I will let you know how it goes.
Looking back over my last travel pod blog I am really going to try working on my grammar and/or spelling. No promises though.
