We got an early start which has not been the normal for us so far on this trip. This was so we could spend more time at Mammoth Caves, the cave system is similar to Waitomo, but without the glow worms and they are much larger. So far they have mapped over 300 miles of the subterranean system.
We took a tour, which saw us walking through over 3 miles of caves, us and 120 other folk!
The caves are huge but some corridors are very small and you really have to squeeze through them, one being called "fat mans misery". Brent desperately wanted to ask one smart arse over-weight kid, how miserable was he, but thought better of it as the kiwi accent is so obvious.

Next day saw us up early and heading for Lincoln's birthplace and more importantly, the oldest Bourbon distillery in Kentucky, "Makers Mark". We had a great tour, enjoyed the free samples then as we headed out towards the Bluegrass parkway, we heard a loud bang. Damn we had a blow-out one of the tires on the RV, we pulled over, actually we skidded over to the side of the road and within minutes a trucker stopped to offer help, using his jack we had the tire off and the spare on in less than half an hour. Reading that, it sounds easy, --actually it was stressful, hot as hell and we all got very dirty, but we were soon on the road again.
We headed for Lexington, and its amazing racehorses, and arrived in time for rush hour. We are staying at the only Rv park in Lexington, at the horse park, it is huge!!!
