We drove from Georgia into South Carolina and then into Nth Carolina to go and experience the car racing at Charlotte. What a race track. You have no idea how big it is. On Tues during the summer they have family night and entry costs $ 7.00, what a bargin. Lots of noise and fumes and a bit of beer. But it was well worth the visit and we had a wonderful experience. They had different classes of racing by age. The youngest being 8 -11 yr olds in these tiny look alike race cars. They were amazing and very exciting.
The evening ended with a semi pro race right on the cusp of a lightening storm. It was obvious they wanted to get this feature race in before the storm struck. Well there was this amazng crash and the race went under the RED flag so we left and ran back to the truck.
Well the storm hit and we slowed down to 30 -40 mls all the way home.

We were staying at King's Mountain State Park which was the site a battle that changed the course of the Revolutionary war. The English lost and that is when England decided it was just too hard to keep the colonist under control. We had our own personal state ranger give us a guided tour that was really interesting.
