So this was the first time we had packed up in the rain and it went just fine except we got wet. We kinda expected to drive out of the rain as all we have experienced on this trip is short showers of varying heaviness. This was more like UK rain where its gentle and constant. We drove north and the rain stayed with us ALL the way, it rained and rained, did I mention its was also COLD!! For 2 boys from the desert this was bad, it was just miserable, no pretty views, gray clouds and wet roads. We had to drive pretty slow as the road is very twisty, Toby had to concentrate hard as the Eagle wanted to take charge and push the Beast around a bit on the slippery surfaces.
So we drove and drove and it rained and rained, we crossed into Washington over the Columbus River, a magnificent bridge, but the visibility was so bad that we could not see either Oregon or Washington from the centre of the bridge!
We stayed on the coast, hoping the rain would stop, but t didn't. We eventually found a campground at Pacific Beach and entered the Eagle with trepidation. We are not sure of its water proof qualities and have never had it in that much prolonged rain. We were relived to find that it was dry inside everywhere but that the wall sockets had tripped out, the fridge had switched off and the lights in the slide out room did not work!!! Thankfully the fridge just needed to be restarted and the wall socket trip switch reset. The lights however need a new fuse...... The lights in the rest of the Eagle were fine thankfully we weren't left in the dark.
As we went to bed it finally stopped raining!!
