Hi everyone
So finally a long weekend that I wasn't working and we were determined to make the most of it. We decided it was time too have some fun! We naturally chose Amsterdam. We set of an organized tour with a friend of mine from University - Pete and his girlfriend Jeanne. We travelled there by overnight coach with cheap drinks for sale. So we had a few drinks, caught up with Pete and Jeanne, and in high spirits starting playing a game of never have I ever with the Australian at the back of the bus... the less said about that the better.
We arrived in Amsterdam early Saturday morning, a little sleep deprived and hung over from the bus trip. We checked into our hostel, had some breakfast and then headed out to explore the city. I was really impressed with Amsterdam - it is the most beautiful city, with canals and cobbled streets and no pollution. The main form of transport is by bicycle and the Dutch are so friendly. We did a canal cruise and visited the Heineken brewery.
For the true Amsterdam experience we went into a coffee shop and defied everything our parents had thought us and had some of the local cakes....
This was hysterically funny for about an hour and then we lost Pete who felt really ill and had to sleep it off. Jeanne also retired to our dorm room while Brendon and I braved the bar with some of our more conservative group members, trying to sound as intelligent as possible. Needless to say I left the talking to Brendon as all my concentration was required in drinking my glass of wine.
That evening we headed off to the Red Light District and watched a live sex show, quite a lot for us to experience all in one day but it was all fun. The next Day we hired some bicycles and road around the city and into some beautiful parks and suburbs. We went back to the Red Light District in the evening and wondered the streets with Jeanne and Pete. Later we met up with the rest of the group at a local bar and partied to a local live band.
Monday morning we took the bus home, a very unwanted trip as we really liked Amsterdam and wanted to stay longer.
Cheers love
Brendon and Jeanette
P.S. let me know how its all going back home
