Up early before sunrise. Was not woken up by lions in the night. Boo!! Breakfast on the patio as zebras at watering hole. Mary Garis pic is so good I shared on Facebook. all the kids dumped us today and they all rode together in the same cruiser. First was giraffe close to the road. hard to find animals today but did have elephants walk right in front of cruiser. Baboons eating tamarind and then 100 baboons walking down river bed. A caracole cat, supposedly very rare. Secretary bird catch a lizard right by us. We were back at Chem Chem Lodge for a delicious lunch of Swahili chicken. Sunbathed with Grant, Mary and Baleigh in the pool overlooking the savannah . Sundowner... Tradition of watching the sun go down and the party to begin. It was like being in movie. They took is in a classic 1982 land cruiser to the edge of Lake Manyara. Unbelievable views!! I have great pics but not on phone to share . They had moved chairs and bar for us in the wild!!! Flamingos everywhere !!! I happened to mention that this is my 50th birthday trip. When we return there is a card and and African good luck charm waiting for me. We had such interesting conversation with staff, Steve and Chantel. They are elephants and lion researchers that work in lodges. They have only been here 2 months and have just spent. 4 years in Botswana. Dinner had fireworks . Seriously !! The roof on the kitchen caught fire!! It was crazy but the staff handled it well. We had dinner service as planned just after. Also, Diane's family gave me wine and a zebra necklace for my birthday. We had the wine at dinner. It was from the Tuscany vineyard they visited last week. Dinner.. Yum... Tomatoes with avocado , lamb chops, apple tart. WAIT!! I had chocolate cake for dessert with plate decorated "Happy Birthday Barbara" AND Happy Birthday sung to me by the wait staff in Swahili!!!' Then to top it off the owner Fabia told of her journey to own a concession and lodge in Tanzania.

If you are Will Hugon's friend on Facebook . You are in for a treat with pics!!!!!

* I forgot to write about the Safari Cat.  We are finishing up dinner, when a wild cat appears in the room.  It frightened us at first, but the owner told us it comes to the kitchen every night for an egg.  She can not get close to it yet.  It must be a relative of the house cat, but longer striped tail.
