The trip to Tortuguero takes most of the day. Its broken up well by a breakfast stop and a stop at a Bannana packing factory. Also saw a rhinosaurus beetle. Then a trip on a boat to the resort base camp for the next couple of days, turtle beach lodge. The area is low swampy rainforest with a maze of canals that cover hundreds of kilometres just off the Carribean sea. On the way to the resort we came across a group of Capachin monkeys and howler monkeys.

Cool lodge. Bar, pool table, swimming pool, nice garden, right on the beach. The cabins back onto forest so the sounds of the nature are there to be heard all night.

The couple of days there are spent taking walks through the rainforest and boat trips. The list of wildlife makes this place the best place in Central America to view wildlife. Howler Monkeys, Spider Monkeys, Capachine Monkeys, river otters, turtles, caiman, tree snakes, poisonous dart frogs are just some of the animals spotted.

Had to laugh at some of the nature freaks on the trip. It seems that there were some real keen bird nerds on the trip. Some were keener than others. One slightly frustrated wife said to the husband, "Look over there its a polkadotted nitwit". I think she had enough at this point of his constant, look at this, look at that.

I would rate this trip as the best place to visit in Costa Rica, without hesitation.........
