After a huge breakfast...like we don't have one daily...we drive to Monticello,Jefferson's life project and masterpiece.(11,000 acres at one time) If you haven't visited this house put it on your list. Jefferson was a genius. I can't even begin to describe this work of art to you. Just a few items, the clock in the entry way(and the entry way is not the picture you see on the nickle) this clock is incredible,it tells the days of the week in the most ingenious way...with weights(no pictures can be taken in the house),his private study...three separate rooms with books everywhere. What a GREAT MAN!
After walking the grounds, seeing his garden, monument and seeing below the house. Go see it!

Ash Lawn Highland, James Monroe's house, less than two miles from Jefferson's. This house is simple compared to Monticello, but very nice. Monroe bought 1,000 acres of land. A few interesting facts about Monroe...he fought in the Revolutionary War with Washington, got shot with a musket, the musket ball could not be removed,so Monroe went to Study Law at William and Mary with Jefferson... Then became our fifth President. Can you imagine?? What great men these were!
