Where I stayed
Misty Mountain Camp
Day 1
We drive down through the Shenandoah Valley and yes it is more beautiful then you could imagine. We get to the Misty Mountain Camp Resort and there is a fishing pond and creek. The boys grab their fishing pole and head off. They all catch fish.
Day 2
We drive to Lexington and see Lee's Chapel, Museum and Crypt. Traveller's(his horse)is buries by the chapel. This is all on the campus of Washington and Lee University. A great place. The monument of Lee is quite something to see. He was greatly loved.
We walk down the brick walkway and see Virginia Military Institute. Another incredible campus.
We get back in the car and drive through the Blue Ridge Mountains...We stop at Appomattox Court House...Do you remember what happened here??? Well actually it took place at McLean's House, the name of the town was Appomattox Court House. Lee surrendered to Grant to end the War Between the States. We head home and drive through very stormy weather...home at last!
