Where I stayed
Campevan (White Horse Hill Camping Area)
On Monday March 30th we drove in the campervan from Christchurch to Mt. Cook, through Mackenzie Country and past Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki. The glacial-carved lakes are an amazing turquoise color from the sediment in the water. The day started out cloudy, but we came over a ridge mid-day and the skies on the other side were completely clear. We hurried to Mt. Cook to hike up Hooker Valley while the weather was nice. The Hooker Valley was a 3-hour hike up to the end of the Hooker Glacier, with great views of Mt. Cook. We were fortunate, because Tuesday morning was cold and cloudy again.
