Singapore is an amazing city. And no it is not as blatantly strict as it sounds. Sure you get fined for jaywalking and chewing gum but the system clearly works -although a few taxi drivers we chatted to would beg to differ and seemed a bit bitter and suffocated by the family that runs singapore. We however had a great few days there with a nice South African welcome to the Weinrich household. We stayed with Rod and Mariette in their "bird's nest in the sky". Thanks to them for their toast to us newly engaged- they were the first people we have actually celebrated our engagement with.
The city is very clean and efficient...beer not as cheap (one more of the rules of the city-high taxes on alcohol) but looking at the shops and exqusite christmas decorations was free! Becs was on a very tight leash here in this city! We went for lunch at a place called east coast park which is a beautiful park by the sea where you can find cheaper beer, eat good food and then run around the park to work it all off. Chinatown is always great to stroll through for a couple of souvenirs and enjoy some spring rolls.

Off to the land down under for christmas and hopefully another cricket victory at the boxing day test match!
